Cataract Surgery

Cataract surgery is Dr. Nassar's primary surgical specialty. Using modern phacoemulsification and a range of premium intraocular lens (IOL) options, he routinely restores clear, glasses-free vision to patients who haven't seen clearly in years — or decades.

  • Phacoemulsification (no-stitch, small-incision technique)
  • Monofocal, extended depth of focus (EDOF), and trifocal IOL options
  • Toric IOLs for astigmatism correction at the time of surgery
  • Medicare and most insurance plans accepted for medically necessary cataract surgery
  • Bilateral surgery scheduling available for faster overall recovery
Procedure time ~15–20 minutes per eye

Corneal Disease

The cornea is the eye's outermost focusing surface — and when it's compromised by disease, infection, or structural failure, vision deteriorates rapidly. Dr. Nassar's training in corneal pathology allows him to diagnose and manage conditions that most general practitioners refer to a specialist.

  • Keratoconus diagnosis and cross-linking referral management
  • Bacterial, viral, and fungal corneal infections (keratitis)
  • Corneal dystrophies (Fuchs', granular, lattice)
  • Recurrent corneal erosion syndrome
  • Corneal transplant evaluation and co-management (DSAEK, DMEK)
  • Advanced dry eye disease — prescription and procedural options

Glaucoma Management

Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide — and it almost always develops silently. Routine intraocular pressure (IOP) monitoring at your annual exam is the single most effective prevention strategy. When elevated pressure is detected, Dr. Nassar offers the full spectrum of treatment.

  • IOP screening at every comprehensive exam — no extra charge
  • Visual field testing and OCT optic nerve imaging
  • Topical medication management and compliance monitoring
  • Selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT)
  • Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) evaluation
  • Pediatric glaucoma assessment and co-management

Retina & Laser Treatment

The retina is the eye's light-sensing tissue, and conditions like diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears, and macular changes can threaten permanent vision loss if left untreated. Dr. Nassar performs in-office laser procedures and monitors macular health with advanced imaging technology.

  • Laser photocoagulation for diabetic retinopathy
  • Retinal tear and hole treatment before full detachment occurs
  • Age-related macular degeneration monitoring and referral
  • Posterior capsulotomy (YAG laser) after cataract surgery
  • Dilated fundus examination at every medical eye visit
  • Fundus photography and OCT retinal imaging

Pediatric eye examination for children

Pediatric Eye Care

Children's visual systems are still developing — and problems caught early are far more treatable than those discovered in adulthood. Dr. Nassar evaluates children from infancy through adolescence for the full spectrum of pediatric eye conditions.

  • First eye exam recommended at 6 months, 3 years, and before first grade
  • Amblyopia (lazy eye) — patching, penalisation, and atropine protocols
  • Strabismus evaluation and referral for surgical co-management
  • Pediatric refractive errors — glasses and contact lens prescribing
  • Pediatric glaucoma screening and co-management
  • Myopia control counselling for school-age children

Comprehensive Eye Exams

An annual comprehensive eye exam is the foundation of lasting eye health — and at Eye Specialists of Georgia, it's more thorough than the typical optometry visit. Every exam is conducted by or directly supervised by Dr. Nassar, a board-certified physician who evaluates the eye as the medical organ it is.

  • Visual acuity and refraction testing for accurate glasses/contact prescription
  • Intraocular pressure measurement — glaucoma screening every visit
  • Slit lamp biomicroscopy — anterior segment evaluation
  • Dilated fundus examination — retina, optic nerve, macula
  • Visual field testing (threshold perimetry) when indicated
  • OCT imaging of the optic nerve and macula on request
Duration 45–60 minutes with dilation
Frequency Annually — or as medically indicated
